 Arsenal Football Club

Arsenal or "The Gunners"  as they are known are unquestionably among the 3 most successful English clubs of all time, with 13 League titles and 10 FA Cup trophies.

Arsenal play at the Emirates stadium, which is based in Holloway, North London, and close to Highbury and Islington. They moved to the Emirates stadium in 2006.

Arsenal's best ever period is probably under Arsene Wenger who took over as manager of the football team in 1996. Under Arsene Wenger Arsenal have been known for playing exciting, attacking and a fast paced brand of football. Arsenal are often cited as the neutrals' favourite team. Under Wenger, Arsenal have also had a great reliance on youth, with many young players making their mark in the first team.

Ironically, before Wenger, there was a time when Arsenal were called "boring boring Arsenal" as they played a much more prosaic form of football and tended to win 1-0 a lot of times.

Arsenal are one of only 4 teams to have won the Premiership and Wenger's rivalry with Ferguson has seen many dramatic moments, but the 2 are the longest surviving Premiership Managers by far.

Arsenal hold the record for the longest uninterrupted period in the English top flight and are the only Premier League side to have completed a season unbeaten ( often referred to as Wenger's Invincibles")

Arsenal were actually founded in 1886 as the Woolich Arsenal in south east London but moved to North London in 1913. Highbury. 2006 Emirates. They were the first London club to reach the UEFA Champions League Final and curiously, one of the few clubs today that do not have a "place" in their name.

Traditionally, their geographically closest rivalry has been with Tottenham Hotspurs, who are also based in North London.

Arsenal had revenues of £209 million in 2007-08 making them third after Manchester United and Chelsea.
