Would you take £45 million for Cesc?

It would certainly be an understatement that the &%*$s from Barca and Real are interested in Cesc. We recently have had Laporta come out bigging up Cesc and his links to Barca, being a former academy player and all. It is quite scary if you think of all the links Cesc has with Barca, but truth be told he has a way bigger link with Arsenal in Wenger. Cesc has never hidden his gratitude and admiration for the boss, he has always been the first to point out that without Wenger he would not be the player he was today.

Would Cesc have played regular football at the age of 17 if he had stayed back at Barca? Would he have been able to learn from someone like Vieira, who was then the best midfielder in England (f**k keane!) Wenger and his staff have to be praised for their fantastic eye when it comes to spotting potential in a kid. I was recently watching the Cesc Fabregas show, which was not aired where I live, and it was not only entertaining but very informational as well. When Wenger came on, it was obvious to see the bond that these two share. Both men respect each other and hold each other in very high regard. Both are geniuses in their own right and terrific at what they do.

It is quite easy to see where Cesc gets his calmness, his poise and his other qualities from. He has not only been educated footballing wise but also been brought up like a son by Wenger, who had always trusted this guy from a very young age. Cesc is the Club Captain and someone who is universally loved and appreciated. I have yet to come across one person who doesn't like him, well the cunts from Hull aside but then again their humanity is in serious doubt.

At 21 he is the heart and soul of Arsenal and one of the best midfielders in the world. He has the pass, the drive, the hunger and an eye for goal that will lead him to lift many trophies for this club. I have no doubt he can become the most successful captain for Arsenal but that is if he has a long career with us.

I just came across a headline in a stupid rumor filled website, which I visit everyday despite it being stupid and filled with rumors, that Barca were reportedly getting together a £45 million offer for him this summer. First off, that is too less an offer for that quality of a player, but it did get me thinking. It got me thinking if I would, or Arsenal fans would, take that kind of money for him?

Then I felt like punishing myself for even thinking that but then it is natural for him to leave one day, but could this summer be the last one in an Arsenal jersey? I'm almost dead certain he won't be leaving this summer, but stranger things have happened eh? Cesc, the club and even Gazidis himself have quickly dismissed any speculation of him leaving. He is only 21 and I think very determined that he can lead this team to glory.

Be I this year or the next, I just think that with a crucial signing this team is the next set of Invincibles that Wenger has put together. The surprising thing about the Invincibles of yore was precisely that, they were a surprise. No one saw them coming; people knew they were good but not good enough to not lose in 49 games. But then again who is good enough to do that? People say that that run was a one off and something that is never bound to happen again.

But how can we be so sure? While it certainly wont be happening as often as we would like I know deep in my heart that we are capable of doing that again. This team is that good and I hold it in very high regard. We were all worries weren't we, that we wouldn't be defensively stable enough? We were wrong and it turned out quite the opposite. We stopped conceding and stopped scoring as well. While not scoring is easy to rectify with the attacking threats we have, being defensively solid has been a bonus. Combine an explosive offense with a solid defense and you have another world-beater on your hands.

I remember when Vieira was the subject of a transfer saga every year, come the end of summer we breathed huge sighs of relief that he has stayed on. It was quite a shock when he did leave us and many predicted that we would never find another leader like him. What we didn't realize was that a young Spaniard was ready to fill his shoes. In retrospect it was the right move, Vieira has never regained the kind of form he had with Arsenal. Did Wenger foresee his downfall or was it just coincidence? One would suspect the former, seeing as to how other players who have Arsenal have not quite made the same impact.

The obvious exception to that rule is Henry. After a rather disappointing first season, which can be attributed to his injury and a Barca team in disarray, he has bounced back this season. He has become an integral part of an amazingly scary Barca team. Just to give you an idea, they have scored 84 goals in 28 games, a mental-fucking average of 3 goals a game. Anyways, Henry's departure was almost like an anti-climax wasn't it?

I was sure gutted when I heard the news, but I was more disappointed to learn that we had gotten only £17 million for him. But I guess the reason I wasn't truly as shocked as I had always imagined I would be was because of his rather ineffectual last year.

He had been out injured a long time and started only 14 league games I think. But his departure was something we were never could imagine before could we? He was our Captain, the best forward in the league, most prolific by any standard, and our highest goal scorer of all time. And it wasn't like he had a great love for any of his former teams where he was rather mediocre compared to his high standards.

The usual suspects in Barca and Real were always in the frame but I was never too sure he would leave. He was approaching 30 and was injured and it was a surprise that he left, not in his leaving but the timing. But I guess we could have imagined taking about 20 mill for him right?

I'm only speculating and being all reminiscent about this shit because we will be facing the same when it comes to Cesc in hopefully about 15 years time. He is one of those few players who you hope never leave your club. He is already a legend and one who every fan shares a deep relationship with. He is one of those few players, like Maldini or Giggs, you want to be a one-club player. I certainly do, I hope he plays for us till he can no more. But in all certainty he will want to leave one day, but until that day comes we should cherish his every drop od sweat and his every breath for this club.
